The 25 highest scores among wrestlers who never won a match for a top-decile championship.
Title prestige here is recursive: a belt is major because major wrestlers contested it, not because anyone said so. These 25 scored where they scored without ever winning one.
Championship prestige in this model is recursive and nobody assigns it. A belt is worth what the wrestlers who contested it were worth, measured by their ratings at the time, shrunk toward the global mean so a title with four matches cannot outrank one with four hundred. The top decile of the resulting distribution are the top titles. There are 1,819 championships in the corpus and the bar is drawn by arithmetic.
These twenty-five never won a match for one. They are, overwhelmingly, junior heavyweights, luchadores, joshi and Dragon Gate wrestlers: KUSHIDA, Masato Yoshino, YAMATO, Naruki Doi, BxB Hulk, Mayu Iwatani, Volador Jr., Ultimo Guerrero, Titán, Mascara Dorada, Atlantis Jr. Nine of the twenty-five come out of Dragon Gate or CMLL alone.
That is not the model failing to notice that the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship is a real title. It is the model noticing something true and slightly uncomfortable: within this corpus, the wrestlers who contest junior and lucha titles carry lower ratings than the wrestlers who contest heavyweight ones, because the two divisions rarely meet and the cross-promotional bridges that would equalise them barely exist. The belt inherits the division's rating, and the division's rating inherits the archive's shape.
Thirteen recorded reigns and not one of them for a top-decile belt. The IWGP Junior Heavyweight Title came off Kota Ibushi at Kizuna Road in 2014 and off Kenny Omega at Wrestle Kingdom 10, the junior tag titles off Matt and Nick Jackson at Dominion 6.21 in a 4.75 star match, the ROH World Television Title off Marty Scurll during War of the Worlds 2017. Under all of that, championship value of 18.5 ranks #413. The promotion table says why: 982 of these 1,398 documented matches are New Japan's, where the junior division largely wrestles itself, and a belt in this model is worth what the wrestlers contesting it are worth. Quality ranks #137, nine clear of the overall #146.
Ten reigns in eight documented years, all of them Stardom's: the Wonder Of Stardom Title from July 2020, the World of Stardom Title twice across the turn of 2023, the Artist Of Stardom and Goddesses Of Stardom belts in trios and tag. The NJPW STRONG Women's Title came off Willow Nightingale at STRONG Independence Day 2023, worth +0.81 in wins above expectation at an importance of 2.04, the heaviest single credit in the record. None of it reaches the decile. Championship value of 24.6 ranks #331 against an overall rank of #165, and the promotion column explains it: 396 of 487 documented matches belong to Stardom, a closed pool rating its own belts.
Fourteen reigns across the American independents, none of them top-decile: the IWA:MS Heavyweight Title three times from 2001, the wXw Heavyweight Title in 2003, the CZW Ironman Title, the PWG Title off Human Tornado inside a steel cage in 2008, the EVOLVE Title off A. R. Fox at Way of the Ronin 2014, the ROH World Tag Team Titles off the Briscoes at The Big Bang. That is 86 title-match wins converting to a championship value of 30.7, #257. Wins above expectation ranks #83, eighty-four places better than the overall #167, built on nights like the 2014 win over A.J. Styles for Smash in Canada at +0.96. The big-match figure reads #3,880.
Twenty-four recorded reigns, four of them the Open The Dream Gate Title, which is Dragon Gate's top prize: off Naruki Doi at Compilation Gate 2010, off Ricochet at Dead Or Alive 2014, off Shingo Takagi at the 2016 Kobe Pro-Wrestling Festival, off Shun Skywalker in 2021. Add the Freedom Gate reign in Dragon Gate USA, the Twin Gate and the Triangle Gate, and the model still finds nothing in the top decile. 2,786 of these 2,905 documented matches are Dragon Gate's. Career K-WAR of 38.0 ranks #149, twenty-six clear of the overall #175, while the big-match figure reads -4.903 at #3,707, because the model expects whoever holds the belt to win those.
The NWA World Historic Welterweight Title ran from August 2014 to March 2018, the Mexican National Light Heavyweight Title came off Místico in February 2010, and CMLL trios and tag belts fill out eight reigns. Championship value of 12.8 ranks #581 where the overall is #179. Wins above expectation ranks #246 and Quality #193, both far ahead of that. 921 of 1,091 documented matches are CMLL's, and the opposition column is Ultimo Guerrero 142 times, Mephisto 116, Místico 93 at a mean pre-match rating of 1811.3 against a 31-62 return. Twenty-seven documented years, every one with matches on it.
Twenty-five reigns, and the two that carry weight are Dragon Gate's: the Open The Brave Gate Title from 2006, then the Open The Dream Gate Title off YAMATO at the 2010 Kobe Pro-Wrestling Festival, +0.57 in wins above expectation at an importance of 1.90, and off YAMATO again in October 2013. Eighty title-match wins convert to championship value of 12.9, #577, three hundred and ninety-nine places under the overall #178 and the widest such drop in this file. A 63.6% win rate across 2,210 documented matches, 2,122 of them Dragon Gate's, is the shape the decile keeps missing: winning constantly inside a division that rates itself.
Two reigns in eight documented years. The GCW World Championship came out of a three-way cage against Masha Slamovich and Rina Yamashita in June 2023 and held for a year against Mike Bailey and Effy; a share of the ROH Six Man Tag Team Championship is still open. Big match ranks #72 and the underlying figure #74, both far ahead of the overall #180, which is the strongest such pairing on this board. Championship value of 33.8 is the highest here at #237 and still nowhere near the decile. Six documented matches against Will Ospreay, none won, at a mean pre-match rating of 2042.6.
Beating Josh Barnett at Bloodsport 9 in March 2023 is the largest upset in this record, +0.95 at an importance of 1.50, and no belt was on it. The ones that were: the EVOLVE Title, taken off Drew McIntyre in July 2015 and held into 2017, the Dragon Gate Open The Freedom Gate Championship won the same night, two APW championships before that, the wXw World Tag Team Titles in 2016. Ten reigns and 54 title-match wins put the Titles component at 95.0, #171, best of his six and twenty-seven better than an overall rank of #198. Against it, wins above expectation reads -12.907 at #3,959, on a 49.7% return from 574 documented matches.
Fifteen reigns, and the two that name the case are the World of Stardom Title, won from Io Shirai in March 2015, and the IWGP Women's Title, won from Mayu Iwatani in November 2022 in a 4.5 star match. Each is the top prize of the promotion that sanctions it. Neither clears the corpus-wide decile, because this model reads a belt through the wrestlers who keep contesting it, and 297 of these 611 documented matches are Stardom's. 53 title-match wins are worth 18.955, #408. Big match reads 92.7 at #246, strongest of the six. The opposition column ends at Jade Cargill, 2033.8 across fifteen meetings, none of them won.
Three reigns, all of them still open in the record: the NWA World Historic Welterweight Title from December 2023, a share of the CMLL Trios Title, a share of the ROH World Tag Team Titles. Eleven title-match wins sit behind those, worth 4.933, #1,066. What holds the row up is the rating column. 113 of 257 documented matches carry a star rating, 44%, and they include a 5.0 star win over Templario at Super Viernes and a 5.25 star loss to Kazuchika Okada at All Out 2025. Quality added of 0.624 ranks #125, eighty clear of the overall #205, on a 68.9% win rate.
Thirty-two recorded reigns, and the model finds nothing top-decile in any of them. The Open The Brave Gate Title came off Masato Yoshino in March 2005 at an importance of 1.90; the Open The Dream Gate Title, Dragon Gate's top prize, came off Ben-K at Final Gate 2019, rated 4.5 stars. 2,542 of 2,772 documented matches are that one promotion's, and the men he meets most are Susumu Yokosuka 348 times and Dragon Kid 298. 83 title-match wins are worth 14.375, #527. Wins above expectation reads 11.747 at #165, forty-five places up on an overall rank of #210, while the big-match figure sits at -21.610, #3,960.
One recorded reign, and it is still running: the ROH Pure Wrestling Title, taken off Wheeler Yuta at Death Before Dishonor in July 2024 at an importance of 2.00, which is the heaviest single credit here. It has since been defended against Katsuyori Shibata at the 2026 edition and against Xelhua in CMLL in a 4.5 star match. That is 22 title-match wins and 17.915 in championship value, #434. Big match ranks #191 and its underlying figure #144, both well ahead of an overall rank of #209. The record itself is 145-146-4 across 295 documented matches, a losing career by one, spread mostly over 102 in AEW and 67 in ROH.
Ten reigns, and they run small and short: the CZW Wired TV Title twice across 2015 and 2016, the CZW Championship for thirteen days in 2017, the HOG Crown Jewel Title, the NXT Cruiserweight Championship for two months in late 2019, the MLW Middleweight Title in 2021, then the Impact Wrestling X Division Title off Chris Sabin at Slammiversary 2023 at an importance of 1.73. 22 title-match wins are worth 15.316, #502. Both expectation measures sit near the floor of the qualified pool, -6.558 at #3,880 and -10.890 at #3,909, on a 47.1% return from 488 documented matches. Five meetings with Finn Bálor at a mean pre-match rating of 2161.0, none won.
Twenty-one reigns and every one of them local: the PWS Tri-State Title, still open in the record since 2013, the Jersey Championship Wrestling heavyweight and tag belts, the HOG Tag Team Titles, the PWS Suicidal 6-Way Title, later the GCW Extreme Championship. 54 title-match wins add up to 14.578, #518. Big match reads 96.3 at #118, ninety-seven up on #215 overall, and the nights behind it are mostly losses: the Chicago Street Fight against Adam Page at ALL IN in 2018 at 4.25 stars, a Battle of Los Angeles defeat by Sammy Guevara at 4.5. Wins above expectation is -4.117, #3,726, off 420-457-15 in 894 documented matches.
Eight reigns and almost all of them tag: the CZW Tag Team Titles in 2016, the AAW Tag Team Championship in 2017, the PWG Tag Team Titles held from 2018 to 2021, the PWR Tag Team Titles, the NXT Tag Team Titles twice. The singles work showing up heaviest is a run at the NXT North American Championship, beating Carmelo Hayes in 2022 and Axiom in 2023 at an importance of 1.65 without the belt changing hands. 55 title-match wins come to 21.483, #369. The 2023 season ranks #173, forty better than an overall rank of #213 and the only measure in the file above it.
The ROH World Television Title came out of a six-way elimination at Final Battle 2024, the heaviest credit in this record at an importance of 2.11, and it held until April. Behind it: the AAA World Cruiserweight Title for eleven months, the AAA Tag Team Titles, a KAOZ cruiserweight belt open since 2021. Four reigns, 8 title-match wins, 7.433 in championship value at #842. The row survives on rating density instead. 70 of 248 documented matches are rated, 28.2%, against a 43.1% win rate and a 107-138-3 ledger. Quality reads 96.1, #148, fifty-nine up on #222 overall.
Eighteen reigns, nearly all of them Stardom's: the Wonder Of Stardom Title from July 2014, the High Speed Title for sixteen months, Artist Of Stardom and Goddesses Of Stardom in trios and tag, then the IWGP Women's Title off Sasha Banks at All-Star Grand Queendom in April 2023, +0.90 at an importance of 1.86. The big-match figure that reign produced is 18.664, #22 in the corpus and the highest number anywhere on this board. 83 title-match wins convert to 19.016, #406. Everything built on results runs the other way: Dominance #1,366, schedule #2,302, a 51.3% return over 1,093 documented matches, 980 of them Stardom's.
RevPro accounts for 201 of these 330 documented matches and eight of the nine reigns: the British Cruiserweight Title from 2020, the British Heavyweight Title twice for roughly three years between them, the SWE Speed King Title still open, two short tag reigns. Titles reads 94.4 at #193, best of the six components and thirty-four up on #227 overall. The 2024 defence against Will Ospreay at High Stakes is rated 6.0 stars, the highest figure anywhere in this assignment, and it lifts quality by 1.56. 39 title-match wins, worth 22.967, #353, and still nothing the decile recognises.
Wrestle Kingdom 18 and Wrestle Kingdom 19 both end with the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Title changing hands his way, off Hiromu Takahashi at 2.05 importance, then off DOUKI a year later. Twelve reigns in all, four of them the junior tag championship, one the GHC junior tag belts in NOAH. 37 title-match wins sit under those at 11.530, #632. Network reads 95.2, #165, and network prestige 0.167 at #204, both stronger than #230 overall, which is the signature of 1,088 New Japan matches inside a division this corpus documents in depth. The 2010s ledger ranks #772 for the decade; the 2020s, #97.
Ten reigns spread over CMLL: four turns with the tag titles from 2000, the CMLL World Light Heavyweight Title for three and a half years from December 2002, the trios belts, later the NWA World Historic Middleweight Championship and an MLW National Openweight Title taken off Matthew Justice in 2025. 38 title-match wins, 15.454, #495. Thirty documented years across four decades, every one of them carrying matches, and 1,061 of the 1,218 are CMLL's. Career K-WAR of 24.3 ranks #221, eleven up on #232 overall, without a single elite season on the ledger. The big-match figure reads -3.915, #3,623.
Fourteen reigns, and the two the model weighs are the Warrior Wrestling Title from September 2020 and the Impact Wrestling X Division Title, won in a three-way at Bound For Glory 2021 and held six months. Around them: IWA:MS tag titles, the DWW Next Generation Title, an A1 Zero Gravity belt, a WrestleCircus tag reign still open, the PWR Title, and in February 2026 the TNA International Championship. 44 title-match wins amount to 15.546, #492. Quality added of 0.602 ranks #136, one hundred and one up on #237 overall and the widest positive gap here. The big-match figure is -4.891, #3,704.
Two recorded reigns in sixteen documented years, both of them shared: a DTU Nexo Title that ran from 2016 to 2021, and CMLL Tag Team Titles open since September 2021. Under that sit 11 title-match wins and a championship value of 2.152, #1,570, one thousand three hundred and thirty-one below #238 overall and the widest title gap on this board. The singles belts he won matches for did not stay: Averno for the Mexican National Welterweight Title in 2012, Komander for the CMLL Welterweight Title in 2026 at 4.25 stars. Quality reads 94.9, #192, off 92 rated matches, and the biggest lift in the file is a 5.0 star defeat by Master Wato, +2.14.
A 38.4% win rate, 251-388-12, and Quality still reads 96.1 at #147, with the quality-added figure of 0.730 at #73, one hundred and sixty-nine clear of #242 overall. The model is reading the matches rather than the results, and the best of them is a 5.75 star mask versus mask win over Chad Gable in May 2026, worth +1.95 in quality lift. Three reigns hold the title column up: the wXw Unified World Title off Marty Scurll in December 2016, then NXT Tag Team Titles in 2020 and again from October 2021. 26 title-match wins, 6.529, #908. Seven meetings with Cody Rhodes at a mean pre-match rating of 2367.0, none won.
Twenty reigns, and Dragon Gate holds 2,630 of the 2,696 matches they come from: four turns with the Open The Triangle Gate Title, the Twin Gate, the Freedom Gate Championship carried through 2010 in Dragon Gate USA, the Open The Dream Gate Title off YAMATO at the 2014 Kobe Pro-Wrestling Festival. 54 title-match wins, 11.499, #633. Wins above expectation reads 14.253, #101, one hundred and forty-four clear of #245 overall, and career K-WAR of 26.7 ranks #203. The opponents are the same names throughout: YAMATO 327 times, Shingo Takagi 311. The big-match figure is -0.688, #2,514.
The board closes on its shortest career and its best win rate: 175-113-3 over 291 matches in eight documented years, 60.1%. Two shared reigns, the Mexican National Tag Team Titles from March 2020 and the CMLL Trios Title from June 2023. The heaviest single night is a win over Kyle Fletcher for the ROH World Television Title at Super Viernes in June 2024, +0.74 at 1.65 importance, and the belt did not change hands. 9 title-match wins, 4.191, #1,161. 54 rated matches, 18.6% of the total, including the mask versus mask victory over Stuka Jr. at the 89th Anniversary Show.
